Dalhousie is a hill station with amazing scenic views and prominent traces of India's British association such as colonial mansions. It is generally known for its mesmerizing natural beauty. As situated far from the buzzing cities, it is a place of eternal calmness. Our journey for that land of god started from Indore on 4th Jan 2017. We reached Pathankot (Punjab) after 2 days journey. Usually to get to Dalhousie, one has to take buses from Pathankot, and we did the same. Finally on the early morning of 6th, we reached our destination. The atmosphere was cool at around 14 degrees that time. We were upset that we will not get the snow while trekking, which was going to start from next morning. But as the day progressed, things started to change, temperature started dropping and till dusk it began snowing. We played a little in snow and went to bed. On next morning, when we got up, to our surprise, entire sight from the land beneath our feet to the far mountains was covered with white carpet. We, being so excited to trek in that much snow, packed our bags and started for the trek. Our plan was to trek for 60 Kms in three days. The route was Dalhousie > Khajjiar > Kalatop Forest > Dalhousie. As the trek progressed, we found it too difficult to walk as the snow layer was considerably deep. We were told by our guide that this was the heaviest snowfall of last 13 years. We somehow managed to complete the trek in 4 days. During that 4 days, the minimum temperature was -24 degrees. The trek got over but it will stay forever in our memories. Sharing some pics of the same.
